Vivacious Vines

The diversity of Vines is mind boggling. This amazing group of plants create effects within landscapes unlike any other plant.

Due to their growth habit they offer unique blending within landscapes. Growing over pergolas, fences & arches, on buildings, up trees or even as ‘green’ fences, softening, disguising and enhancing less appealing structures.

They are touchy, feely by nature so romance is sure to follow with their enhancing foliage, fragrant flowers and unique growth forms. Vines can bring your garden from drab to fab in no time. They do require support, whether pergola, trellis, a post or wall which they’ll embrace passionately, creating a gorgeous aesthetic touch to the structure.

Vines can be multi-functional, providing shade, create privacy, enhance with flowers & fragrance, provide edible or ornamental fruit, act as a groundcover or add to your sustainable garden with habitat & food for wildlife.

These vigorous vivacious plants do need some guidance, however, whether they are clinging, twining or scrambling in nature. As with any gardening, maintenance is required to maintain their beauty & form. Most will benefit from an annual prune to manage their growth.

There are even numerous options of less vigorous vines that are suitable for pots on verandas, that with some support can create a beautiful privacy screen in more confined living spaces. Indoor environs can also be enhanced by vines such as ivy, creeping ficus or the hardy pothos & heart leaf philodendron varieties in pots or baskets adding lush trailing beauty.

At Pelicans Landing G C we stock a diverse variety of vines from vigorous to moderate growth habits and many suitable for confined spaces & indoor environs.

Our staff are more than happy to guide you with your choice of vine determined by your desire for it’s performance. Vines generally don’t fit into the ‘low maintenance’ category though do contribute beauty, habitat and potentially food to sustainable gardens.
